Where I am From Poem

This is me

I am from playtime, from Pooh and Piglet.

I am from the rickety old basketball hoop.(That looks like it touches the sky when you stand right underneath it.)

I am from I am from huge hydrangea bushes, and all the amazing hats they made, which would create a new world of magic.

I am from daily “highs and lows” and thick dark hair, from Debbie and David.

I am from the I know I’m funny’s and the know it all’s.

I am from the don’t forget your vegetables and I know you could have done betters.

I am from that rushing family that comes into church five minutes late, from Fr. Headly’s classes, and bake sales after mass.

I am from skyscrapers and tiny villages, from Kraft Mac and Cheese and Sancocho.

I am from the monkey my great-grandfather had in Africa, and the gorilla that threw a rock at my uncle’s nose.

I am from passport pictures and airplane rides, from boarding passes and backpacks.

I am from the huge photo albums in the big wooden cabinet under the flat screen that collects, dust like the memories collected inside.

My Globalization Poem

Your Dream

Every multi million international corporation starts with one idea, one vision, one dream. It was the dream and everyone thought it would be a dream forever.

They walk down mainstreet and see the soaring towers over head looking down on them.

The dream you had when they felt the cool breeze as they briskly walk down mainstreet and felt the pushing and shoving of crowds of people.

The dream you had that crisp fall day with the wind on their face and the harsh smell of gasoline in the air.

When you said “ Do you know what, one day we will own one of these buildings and sore high in the sky above the world watching it pass by.

But a dream is just like a fish out of water or a flower out of soil it can’t fly until you set it free.

So you start to work on this dream of becoming some thing more. But how? How do you start m nothing and end up with something more than you ever imagined.

Well I believe it started like this.

They started local with a small action. But ooh how this restaurant flourished. The restaurant filled with friendly laughter, loving people and the smell of grilled burger.

Soon enough people from out of town just to eat at the restaurant.

You and your big dream opened another restaurant. Soon these restaurants startup to pop up everywhere like flies on your leftovers. It started with one and then two, then three and soon the whole country was covered in these restaurants.

You were living their dream.

But empty feeling hungry for more. What was the next step? You were already on the top of the world, looking down and seeing life pass by.

Someone with a powerful enough dream and has enough drive and never stops.

Staring out on to the vast city, someone with drive would want to claim all for themselves. That is what I would do with a drive as precise as an archers arrow.

You set to expand this dream. Within a couple of years, your company, was open internationally. The family friendly burger place with friendly people and a welcoming staff.

The same smells of grilled burgers and laughter hang in the air.

And with that you set your dream free wind that carried it to you.
